min wa ila, an upcycling initiave
Min Wa Ila is an upcycling initiative by Atelier Hamra started in 2009. It is part of a larger vision we have regarding sustainability and consumerism. We felt it was our role, as a Beirut based landscape architecture office, to react to the amount of trash that was locally produced daily.
Min Wa Ila aims at using trash as a resource and creating upcycled design objects from discarded material with the help of local craftsmen.
Mina Wa Ila invites different designers to join in for every exhibition organized. Several exhibitions have been already organized and a new one is currently being prepared.
Materials used change according to availability and designer’s interest: paper, metal, plastic water bottles / plastic, cloth..
